Overview
This 14-day self-drive tour takes in the very best of the eastern coast of Australia as you travel from Brisbane to Cairns. Enjoying some of Australia’s most impressive coastal scenery, you’ll make your way north along the Sunshine Coast and then across to the beautiful K'Gari for a two-night stay. Heading back to the mainland you’ll explore the coast including the Whitsundays, Townsville and Mission Beach before heading up to Port Douglas where you can visit the Great Barrier Reef.

You’ll pick up your hire car in Brisbane and then head north to the Sunshine Coast. Blessed with some of Australia’s most jaw-dropping countryside scenery and dramatic coastline vistas, you’ll also find sophisticated Australian cuisine and truly sublime beaches.

Day 2-3
K'Gari
Leaving behind the beauty of the Sunshine Coast, you won’t miss the scenery for long. Today you’ll take a catamaran over to the stunning K'Gari, leaving behind the car to enjoy the unspoiled natural wonders. This island is a haven of sugar-white sandy beaches, invigorating walking trails, pretty lakes and amazing wildlife. Spend two nights here, including a full-day tour in a 4WD vehicle across the sand dunes.

Day 4
Barmoya
On day four you’ll transfer back to Hervey Bay where you’ll pick up your hire car and drive north. Tonight is a farm-stay giving you the opportunity to learn about modern farming practices and lifestyles in Australia.

Day 5
Eungella
Today you’ll leave your farm-stay accommodation and continue the drive north to Eungella National Park. Enjoy the imposing backdrop of the Clarke Range including Mt Dalrymple which stands at an elevation of over 1,200 metres.

Day 6-7
The Whitsundays
On day six you’ll travel to the stunning Airlie Beach, at the heart of the Whitsundays. You’ll stay here for two nights, giving you leisure time to explore this truly wonderful part of Australia.

Day 8
Townsville
Leaving the Whitsundays behind you’ll continue your journey on to Townsville. A large and vibrant city, Townsville has great food and a fun nightlife.

Day 9
Mission Beach
Travel onwards to the beautiful Mission Beach today and enjoy the stunning golden sands. The small village feel of the area contributes to the charm of the place.
Overnight: Licuala Lodge (standard) or Castaways Resort & Spa (superior)
Day 10-11
Atherton Tablelands
Departing from Mission Beach on day ten, you’ll head inland to the Atherton Tablelands. With stunning heritage rainforests, gushing waterfalls and magnificent national parks, this is a very attractive area where you’ll spend two days exploring the scenery.

Day 12-13
Port Douglas
On day 12 you’ll continue you on to Port Douglas – the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Port Douglas enjoys a beautiful beach and a great range of restaurants, activities and attractions. With two nights here you can go snorkelling or fishing on the reef, visit the Daintree Rainforest

Day 14
Cairns
From Port Douglas you’ll drive over to Cairns where you’ll drop off your hire car and the tour ends.
