Every destination has been chosen for its ability to connect you with Australia’s heart and soul. From the sun-drenched beaches of Jervis Bay to the tranquil waters and golden shores of Merimbula and Lakes Entrance, this itinerary moves seamlessly between breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable experiences.

Along the way, the freedom of self-driving allows you to explore at your own pace, lingering where the scenery captivates and taking detours to discover hidden gems that lie just off the beaten track.

We recommend this itinerary for January – April 2026 or October – March 2027, however, if you would like to travel outside of these dates, we would be delighted to tailor make a bespoke itinerary to suit your individual interests, travel style, and preferred timing. Spend a free day discovering Sydney’s iconic attractions. Wander through the Royal Botanic Gardens, stroll along Bondi Beach or visit the renowned Sydney Opera House. In the evening, choose from an array of dining options or vibrant bars.

Sydney

Take to the skies on a scenic seaplane flight from Sydney Harbour to the exceptional Cottage Point Inn. Blue Mountains

Blue Mountains

This morning is sure to be truly unforgettable – enjoy breakfast accompanied by wild kangaroos grazing at the edge of the wilderness. This is an extraordinary opportunity to witness these remarkable creatures in a serene, natural setting, making for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that captures the very essence of Australia’s wild charm.

Uluru

Fly to the heart of Australia’s Red Centre, where you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Uluru- Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, gaining a deeper understanding of the Anangu people and their connection to this remarkable place.

Next, travel around the base of Uluru in comfort as your driver guide shares insights into its many sacred sites, unique rock formations and the native flora and fauna that thrive in this arid environment.

Journey to the Kuniya Walk, where you will be escorted to the peaceful Mutitjulu Waterhole, a site rich in cultural stories and surrounded by ancient rock art. As evening approaches, witness the breathtaking transformation of Uluru’s colours at sunset, glass of sparkling wine in hand - a truly iconic Australian moment.

Uluru

Today, travel to Kings Canyon, stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station, a working cattle station and Australia’s largest exporter of wild camels. Learn about its fascinating history and support for remote Aboriginal communities.

For the adventurous, the 3-hour rim walk offers a challenging climb with spectacular views over Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, enjoy a gentler walk along the canyon floor, rich in native plants and birdlife.

After lunch, return to Ayers Rock Resort for an awe-inspiring finale to your day - the Uluru Kata Tjuta Grand View Sunset Flight. Soar high above the Red Centre, taking in panoramic views of Uluru, Kata Tjuta and endless desert landscapes.

As the sun sets, witness the landscape shift through brilliant ochres, fiery reds, and soft purples, revealing the vast scale and beauty of this sacred land.

Day 8

Uluru

Rise early today and make your way to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku – the Uluru Sunrise Viewing Area. Witness the magic of a desert sunrise, sipping a warm tea or coffee as the first light sets the landscape aglow. Continue to the 36 towering domes of Kata Tjuta, pausing at a dune viewing platform for sweeping views before venturing into Walpa Gorge.

Follow a 1.3km trail between two of the tallest domes, surrounded by striking rock formations and the quiet beauty of this sacred site. Finish the day with another breathtaking sunset before returning to your accommodation.

Jervis Bay

Begin your morning with a visit to the Field of Light installation – a mesmerising display by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro. As the desert slowly brightens, wander among 50,000 glass spheres glowing softly in the dawn light, an ethereal experience that feels almost otherworldly.

Later, fly to Sydney and collect your hire car for a scenic self-drive to the pristine shores of Jervis Bay. Upon arrival, settle into your luxury safari-style tent, blending the comfort of boutique accommodation with the charm of the great outdoors.
