Day 1

Melbourne to Apollo Bay (197km)

Once you’ve collected your car you will venture south west on the Princes Highway to Geelong, a picturesque port city. You’ll then journey to Torquay, the bustling surfing capital of Australia, before following the coastal road through Anglesea to Lorne, with a stop at the cascading Erskine Falls. After marvelling at the waterfalls, make your way onto one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world – the Great Ocean Road – which will wind through coastal towns and national parks and arrive at Apollo Bay. The rest of the day will be spent at this coastal town – sunbathe on the sandy beaches, do a bit of fishing, or shop for antiques.

Day 2

Port Fairy (188km)

Today you’ll head back on to the Great Ocean Road to travel Port Campbell, winding through the tree-clad slopes of Cape Otway. Your drive will then take you back along the coast again to see fascinating natural attractions including the Twelve Apostles and the London Bridge. Stop off at Tower Hill Nature Reserve near Warrnambool to get up-close to koalas, emus and kangaroos, and then drive to Port Fairy, a pretty coastal town with fantastic golf.

Day 3

Halls Gap (157km)

Leave Port Fairy and travel north to the Grampians National Park, driving past luscious woodland, trickling waterfalls and grand rock formations until arriving in Halls Gap. The rest of the day is free to explore the area, including McKenzie Falls, Reed Lookout and the Balconies.

Day 4

Ballarat (140km)

In the morning venture out of Halls Gap and visit some of the brilliant wineries on offer, including the Montara Estate. You’ll then travel to Ballarat, Victoria’s largest inland city, to see Sovereign Hill and see the show ‘Blood on the Southern Cross’.

Day 5

Melbourne (114km)

Today you will visit Ballarat Wildlife Park (at own expense) for close encounters with native animals, before driving back to Melbourne.

Your car is booked until the following day. You must return the car at the city or airport by the same time it was picked up on day 1, or you’ll be given an additional charge.
