The Botanic Gardens of Sydney were founded on this site by Governor Macquarie in 1816 as part of the Governor's Domain. The first Colonial Botanist, Charles Fraser, was appointed in 1817, establishing the Gardens as the oldest scientific institution in Australia. In 1959, the title "Royal" was added to the gardens title.
Today, the Sydney Gardens cover 30 hectares in a spectacular setting on the shores of Sydney Harbour, with 10,960 examples of plants, trees and flowers from Australia and overseas on display.
For your wedding at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens, we have selected the best and most picturesque location, to make the most of your wedding photo and video memories.
